It’s the remix, baby! Trevor Jackson puts his own spin to Summer Walker’s fan-favorite track “Girls Need Love.”
Appropriately titled “Boys Need Love 2,” Jackson uses the track to bring up double standards men have to deal with — just like Walker brings up double standards against women.
“Boys can’t ever say they love you / Boys, they ain’t allowed to cry / Boys can’t ever catch no feelings / Boys can’t ever ask why / Boys can’t ever show their weakness / Boys can’t ever back down / Boys can’t ever say they’re in love, even if they’re in it right now,” Jackson sings.
Later in the track, Jackson pays homage to Ella Mai’s “Boo’d Up” and H.E.R.’s “Focus” with clever interpolations.
Jackson recently released a self-directed video for “How That Sound” from his Rough Drafts Pt. 1 album. It is also the last visual from that project.
On Monday, Jackson hinted to his fans that Rought Drafts Pt. 2 is on its way.
