Leah Jenea, a finalist on the hit FOX series The Four, has released a visual for her song “Stick to the Promises.”
Directed by Nathan R. Smith, the video takes place at a high school and features the budding songstress chiding her love interest. She bemoans him for a lack of consistency and respect. It is refreshing to see a video include extras that are actually a part of Jenea’sreal-lifee posse. She also brings her signature style to the video. Throughout the visual, she slips into various ensembles, each one more flamboyant than the next. If anything, this project shows how confident the 18-year old artist is in her brand.
Jenae told Essence her new track “speaks to anyone who has been lied to or misled by someone they care about.”
In March, Jenea will release her debut EP Leah Meets Nina on Slugga Music/Cinematic Music Group. The conceptual body of work will include samples from Nina Simone’s biggest hits.
Lastly, Jenea will headline her own show in New York on February 12 at the Sound of Brazil (SOBs) nightclub.
