Keke Palmer is always booked and busy! Following her acclaimed role in the lesbian love drama Pimp, the singer/actress has landed a role in director Lorene Scafaria’s upcoming film Hustlers.
Inspired by a 2015 New York Magazine piece written by Jessica Pressler, the strip club drama will take place in New York City after a recent financial scare. It will follow a gang of former dancers who join forces to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients.
STXfilms has enlisted Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Cardi B, Lili Reinhart, Julia Stiles, and Mercedes Ruehl as Palmer’s stripper allies. Mette Towley and Trace Lysette are in talks to join the film, according to Deadline.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with this dynamic group of women,” said Scafaria. “We’re grateful to have assembled such a powerhouse cast.”
Filming for Hustlers is scheduled to begin on March 22 in New York.
On the music front, Palmer revealed in late-December 2018 that she should be releasing her finished new album at the top of the year. While the completed work hasn’t materialized, she did keep her promise with visuals. She debuted the video for her single “Better to Have Loved” last month.
