Bay Arena native Rayana Jay has linked with Los Angeles rapper Duckwrth for her new single titled “Love Me Like.”
The mid-tempo groove is about two love interests, possibly in a long-distance situation, who try to make the best of their very limited time together.
“When this plane land / I don’t wanna do shit but hold your hand / In the middle of the street, like this my man / We can dance to the traffic jam, uh / You can show me round town,” Jay sings on the infectious tune.
Duckwrth responds with a catchy rap-sung verse. “I wanna take a dip in your river / Fuck that, I wanna drown / Deep in your water like a fish, love stream / How the hell you fit the ocean in your jeans?”
Speaking on the track, Jay exclusively tells Rated R&B, “‘Love Me Like is a long-distance love story. I wanted to write a song about knowing you only have a few moments with your lover; capturing the possibilities, the fun, and ultimately, the heartbreak you feel when it’s time to go.”
“Love Me Like” is the lead single and title track to Jay’s upcoming EP, which is scheduled to drop on March 22 via Empire. The project, which will follow 2017’s Morning After, will also include appearances from rapper G-Eazy and singer Beni Moun.
In other news, Jay has some European tour dates scheduled for this spring. On May 29, she will play at The Camden Assembly in London. On May 31, she will perform at the Berlin Jazz Experiment Festival. On June 2, she will perform at Paradiso Small Hall in Amsterdam. Tickets are available at rayanajay.com/tour.
