Zacari is ready to reaffirm why folks fell in love with his voice. Following his appearances on projects like Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN and the Black Panther Soundtrack (“Redemption”), the California native has released his debut EP titled Run Wild Run Free.
On his first major project, Top Dawg Entertainment’s (TDE) newest signee manages to combine the best elements of alternative R&B with heavy-hitting hip-hop production.
Many records on the seven-track EP share the same ethereal and introspective vibes that his guest vocals on Lamar’s hit song “LOVE” embodied. Run Wild Run Free also showcases Zacari’s dope chops and lyricism, while demonstrating his high-energy on tracks like “Young and Invincible” with Lil Yachty.
While Run Wild Run Free is fresh off the press, Zacari is already thinking ahead on his debut album.
“There are songs that didn’t make the EP because I’m saving them for the album,” Zacari told Billboard in a recent interview. “It’s going to be a whole new sound for us, too. The sound of it is a little different. It’s a little bit bigger energy on this next one.”
Zacari is currently giving people a taste of Run Wild Run Free at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas.
