There’s no place to go but up when you’re talking about Maxwell. The erotic songster has released the second installment of his five-part Urban Hang Suite EP.
For this collection of re-imagined classics, Maxwell takes his fans higher with an assortment of versions for “Ascension,” one his first top 10 hits on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart. He shares two rare renditions that include a sample of The S.O.S. Band’s 1984 single “No One Gonna Love You.” He also throws in an unsung audio that includes the song’s instrumental.
Beyond the previously mentioned audio edits, the new EP features the Encore Live, cut and a dub version of the hit love song. Maxwell also inserts the B-side of “Seguranca,” a song he performed for Red Hot + Rio’s AIDS benefit complication in 1996.
Maxwell launched the Urban Hang Suite EP series last week, along with his promised Shame 508 RMX EP. The rare set of EPs is all leading up to NIGHT, the conclusion to his BLACKSUMMERS’NIGHT trilogy.
