Maxwell is known for being ahead of his time. That’s why he has decided to take us back to the future with his double EP launch.
First up, the neo-soul hipster has kept his word and delivered his previously teased Shame 508 RMX EP. The EP features seven reimagined versions, including an unsung copy, of his modern love song that has been noted as his 14th top 10 single on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart.
For the second EP, Maxwell has overturned his record bin and picked out tracks from circa 1996, including “…’Til the Cops Come Knockin'” and rare cut “Lock You Up n’ Love You For Days.” He gives each track new life while delivering an unfaded version of “The Urban Theme” from his Urban Hang Suite debut.
Both the vintage and modern EP have been presented during the interim period for NIGHT, the conclusion to his BLACKSUMMERS’NIGHT trilogy. His first two installments are tied to Grammy wins, including Best R&B Album for BLACKsummer’night and Best R&B Song (“Lake By the Ocean”).
On March 30, Maxwell is playing V-103’s intimate live show in Atlanta with special guest Kem. Ticket information is available on Ticketmaster.
In July, Maxwell will headline night-two of the Cincinnati Music Festival.
