We all grieve differently. For J-Sol, the singer-songwriter put his heavy emotions into a song. On his new single “Bullet in My Heart,” the British artist talks about his ongoing battle with depression from losing his mother to cancer.
The emotional tune was produced by AC Burrell (Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, 2Chainz) and recorded at Diane Warren’s studio.
“I wrote ‘Bullet In My Heart’ on my bedroom floor in May 2015 after my mum’s funeral,” J-Sol said in a press statement. “Till today it’s the fastest song I’ve written. The song wasn’t ever meant to be released. In fact, I had zero plans of anyone ever hearing it. It was a private letter from myself to my mum but I guess life had other plans.”
In April 2018, he released “Wish I Could,” which was also inspired by his late mother. “Many people don’t know I lost my mum through a stroke that was caused by cancer in April 2015,” he said. “It’s something I’ve tried to forget yet struggled to come to terms with.”
“Bullet in My Heart” will appear on J-Sol’s forthcoming EP that will feature collaborations from Conor Maynard, Mila J, Mishon and Anth Melo.
