Woods’ latest video “Baldwin” takes place in her hometown Chicago in a magical school similar to Hogwarts from the Harry Potter series. In the Vincent Martell-directed clip, the children run into the wall of an abandoned school à la Platform 9 ¾ . Once the children enter the school, they give a new meaning to Black magic. Black boy joy and Black girl magic are celebrated between the shots of the enchanted school and Chicago youth busting some dope and limber moves. If you look close enough, you can even catch a painting of James Baldwin himself adorned on the classroom wall.
Woods shared on Twitter that the video is “inspired by James Baldwin & the brilliance of black youth in Chicago/everywhere.”
