What if Blood Orange made a music video set in the 18th and 19th century? The result might be something like this video for “Benzo” off his debut mixtape Angel’s Pulse.
The extravagant self-directed visual takes place in the queen’s court of an antsy female ruler played by nonconformist Ian Isiah. The queen’s patience wears thin as she waits for the coming of Orange, who is booked for her entertainment.
Arriving on CP time, Orange, styled in a camp look, walks in with his laid-back charm and a cello in hand. You’ll have to watch the full video to see if the queen was amused or banished him from her queendom.
Blood Orange premiered his Angel’s Pulse mixtape to rave reviews last week. The project, labeled as “an epilogue” to 2018’s Negro Swan, boasts a feast of appearances by Justine Skye, Tinashe, Project Pat, Gangsta Boo, and more.
In support of his new mixtape, Orange will play a round of live shows in North American for Tyler, The Creator’s IGOR Tour. Orange will make his first stop of the run on October 1 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
