A groundbreaking fourth album and a Mariah Carey feature later, Blood Orange has dropped his inaugural mixtape Angel’s Pulse.
Serving as the “next group of songs” since last year’s Negro Swan, the left-field superstar rallied an all-star cast of phenomenal contemporary and nostalgic acts like Justine Skye, Tinashe, Project Pat, and Gangsta Boo for this 14-track project.
Blood Orange’s deeply personal artistry is felt and heard in many of the songs on Angel’s Pulse, which each have a unique aesthetic to them. Decorated in a range of stylistic sounds like soul, lo-fi vibes, and Memphis rap that speaks to his creative mindset, Orange makes a point to declare Angel’s Pulse is “a diary, not an agenda. My goal is just to be honest.”
Starting on October 1, Orange will join Tyler, The Creator on his IGOR Tour. The North American leg will wrap up on October 26. Before the tour fun this fall, Orange will play select shows this summer, including the 2019 North Sea Jazz Festival later today (July 12).
