It’s not every day that an artist can take on a Whitney Houston classic and make it their own. Emeli Sandé did with ease when she stepped into BBC’s Radio 2 Piano Room on The Ken Bruce Show to perform Houston’s “My Love Is Your Love.”
The genre-bending songbird opted to ditch the reggae-tinged stylings and its original medley to slow the awakening spiritual down and make it into a soft ballad. Surprisingly, this in-studio rendition worked for Sandé and her stunning voice.
Aside from covering the title track from Houston’s fourth album, Sandé also performed “Extraordinary Being.” The song is the second offering from her next album, Real Life, which is due on September 13 via Virgin Records.
Sandé is heading on tour this fall to support the new album. Tickets are on sale on her official website.
