Brandy’s list of accolades gets another addition. The legendary R&B singer will be honored with the BMI President’s Award at the 2019 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards. The star-studded ceremony will be held at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center on August 29 in Atlanta, Georgia.
BMI’s Vice President of Creative (Atlanta) Catherine Brewton praised Brandy in a press statement.“As a singer/songwriter, actress and humanitarian, Brandy is a triple threat in every sense of the word,” said Brewton. “Her timeless hits about love and heartbreak were anthems to many coming of age during the 90s and secured her place in R&B history.”
She added, “We are so excited to honor Brandy with the BMI President’s Award and look forward to celebrating a night of great music.”
The BMI President’s Award is presented to an individual songwriter, composer or producer who has made exemplary contributions to the art of music and songwriting and profoundly influenced the entertainment industry. Previous recipients of the prestigous award include Curtis Mayfield, Toni Braxton, Ludacris and Will.i.am.
In music-related news, Brandy recently dropped her collaborative single with Daniel Caesar titled “Love Again.” It is the lead track from her upcoming untitled album, which will follow 2012’s Two Eleven.
