BET Networks and Beverly Bond, CEO/founder/creator of Black Girls Rock!, have unveiled plans to honor Ciara and H.E.R. at this year’s ceremony.
Ciara, whose amazing career spans almost two decades, will receive the Rock Star Award. H.E.R. will be honored with the Young Gifted and Black Award.
Angela Bassett, Regina Hall, Debra Martin Chase, and The Mothers of the Movement will also be awarded at the upcoming show.
The celebration will be taped at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on August 25 in Newark, New Jersey. The televised special, hosted by Niecy Nash, will air on BET on Sunday, September 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
Last year’s event honored Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Naomi Campbell, Judith Jamison, Lena Waithe, and Tarana Burke.
