DRAM has teamed up with H.E.R and Andrew Watt (a.k.a. Watt) for his new soul-tinged single titled “The Lay Down.”
Over a calming and sultry production, DRAM and H.E.R. vocalize their desires in the bedroom. “‘Cause I wanna lay it down with you / I ain’t trying to play around with you,” they sing on the slow-burning record.
In a note to his fans, DRAM teased the next chapter of his music, confirming that he will experiment more into his R&B and soul roots.
“Over the last two years, I’ve been working on my sophomore album while simultaneously going through the ups and downs of life in general,” he explained. “As a result of this, many of these experiences have been heavily reflected in my work moving forward. As I mature, so does my sound.”
He continued, “I’ve always considered myself more of a singer-songwriter so this time around, I’m really owning my R&B and soul roots. So as you can tell, I’m excited about introducing you to the new Big Baby DRAM chapter.”

“The Lay Down” is DRAM’s first single since his 2018 EP, That’s A Girl’s Name. He released his rap-heavy debut album, Big Baby DRAM, in 2016. The 22-track project included his hit single “Broccoli” featuring Lil Yachty.
As for H.E.R., the Grammy-winning singer is gearing up for her self-curated Lights On Festival on September 14 in Concord, California. The festival lineup includes Jhené Aiko, Ari Lennox, Lucky Daye Daniel Caesar, Tone Stith and more. Following the festival, on October 16, H.E.R. will join Lauryn Hill for a show at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
