Chris Brown is returning to the big screen.
The multitalented entertainer has snagged a supporting role in Nick Cannon’s upcoming film, She Ball. He also serves as a producer, along with Cannon and Birdman.
According to a press release, She Ball follows a young female athlete (played by Melody Rae Kandil) as she “faces trials, tribulations, and triumph on and off the basketball court.”
A 50-second trailer was uploaded to Cannon’s official YouTube channel. Brown’s hit single “No Guidance” featuring Drake can be heard playing in the background for the duration of the clip.
“She Ball is about community and the inclusive nature of controlling your own background,” Cannon explained in a statement. It’s a story that doesn’t have any boundaries. It’s a sports movie, it’s a love story, and it’s a comedy.”
He continued, “Chris Brown who is like family to me and such a visionary is truly one of the most gifted and talented spirits to ever grace this planet! With a partnership between myself, Birdman, and Chris Brown. We took this all into our own hands. That’s empowering for our industry, and I’m grateful to have worked with such a dedicated team and especially talented cast.”
She Ball is slated to arrive in theaters in February 2020. It will also co-star Faizon Love, Evan Ross, Cedric The Entertainer, DC Young Fly and Birdman.
An accompanying soundtrack will be released via Cash Money Records/NCREDIBLE.
