It’s a new day for August Alsina. The singer-songwriter dropped his latest single “Today,” an inspirational track about determination and getting back up.
Sonically, “Today” follows Alsina’s classic formula of heavy bass and dreamy synths, complimented by his haunting backing vocals and staccato-like storytelling. Lyrically, the track discusses Alsina’s drive to be better, today and every day.
He croons, “Get yours, ’cause I’ma get mine’s today (Today) / I’m sure, won’t change my mind today (Today) / No choice, I gotta find a way (Today) / I’m on the grind three sixty-five, got no time to waste (Today) / And I’m gon’ run like they gon’ put me in the ground today (Today).”
“I’m gone Work like they gone put me in the ground “TODAY!!”,” Alsina tweeted about the single. “Out Now On All Streaming Platforms! 2020 is near, which means we gearing up for Mixtape Season round here!”
Alsina dropped the trailer for a new documentary titled The Rise of August Alsina along with his latest single.
The New Orleans-native released his latest EP Forever and a Day in early 2019.
