NPR has been in their bag when it comes to the Tiny Desk concert series.
Now, Top Dawg Entertainment singer SiR takes the stage for an intimate performance of his hit songs.
Accompanied by bass, guitar, keys and back-up vocals only, the performance opens up with the jazzy “The Recipe” with SiR teasing his extensive vocals.
Background vocalists, including his mother Jacquelyn Farris and older brother Davion Farris, shine as they harmonize over the second selection “New Sky.”
A beautifully stripped-down performance that showcases the Inglewood native’s artistry, SiR dedicated the mini-concert to his godson who passed away just days before the performance.
“We’re doing this for him,” SiR told the NPR crowd. “ It took a lot for me to be here today …but we’re gonna get through this.”
All songs from the show are lifted from SiR’s sophomore album Chasing Summer, released back in 2019.
