Ari Lennox has been giving love to the greats before her on her Wine Covers series on YouTube. This time, she has partnered with Amazon Music to cover “Walk On By” by Dionne Warwick.
Differing from the original, the cover is met with upbeat production, paired with an acoustic guitar, a hip-hop breakbeat and a sprinkle of new lyrics.
Lennox decided on a classic song to cover and with good reason. “I picked [Walk On By] because I’m going through a break up and felt it speaking to me,” she shared. “I’m also very inspired by Dionne and wanted to honor her.”
The soulful singer has continously been on the road, ending the Shea Butter Baby in Austrailia this March. She’ll also be performing at the Essence Festival in July.
