The Weeknd is in album mode. The Canadian singer-songwriter dropped a polarizing short film to accompany his upcoming fourth LP, After Hours.
The five-minute trailer, directed by Anton Tammi, opens up to the Grammy Award-winner wrapping up an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Before taking to the streets of New York and undergoing a disturbing change in persona.
The video features an equally disturbing score meshed with some cuts from the album. The various changes in emotion and stability may hint the lyrical content listeners can look forward to when the album drops.
Tammi is responsible for The Weeknd’s “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights” visuals, both of which dropped in late 2019.
The Weeknd is embarking on his After Hours Tour in June beginning with Vancouver and concluding with Paris in November. Get your tickets here.
After Hours arrives March 27. Watch the short film above.
