Janelle Monáe has more than the second season of Amazon’s Homecoming to celebrate this week. “I Like That,” the biggest hit from her Dirty Computer album, is now certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The free-spirited anthem, which is clocking close to 49 million streams on Spotify, earned the electric lady her first-ever number-one single on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart in fall 2018.
This isn’t Monáe’s first gold certification from her Grammy-nominated album. The quirky funk “Make Me Feel” struck gold in March, making it the first track from Dirty Computer to achieve this feat.
As the release date for Liongate’s Antebellum, which stars Monáe, remains up in the air, the always-booked superstar is promoting her lead role as Jackie in Homecoming.
The thrilling mystery series can be exclusively streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
