Scorpio season has arrived early.
Riding on the wave of his “Plan B” collaboration with Brandy, flashy songster Ro James calls on deviant hipster Miguel for the latest offering from his upcoming sophomore album Mantic.
“Too Much,” produced by Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman and Caston Grigsby, is a masterful song that offers commentary on a toxic relationship that beyond draining for both parties involved.
The droning instrumentation is just as wicked as the finessed vocal styles of James and Miguel. The latter crooner takes on the chorus in a sinister fashion, while James’ evocative voice controls the two verses and a bit of the refrain.
“Tired of treating love like it’s real estate / Girl, let’s build this us up and make our great escape / You say you want relationship like Bey and Jay / Know that could be us, but baby-girl, you’re playin’ / Just one text, fuck around and relapse / We say we’re done and then we’re running right back,” coos James on the second verse.
As previously mentioned, “Too Much” is one of many songs issued ahead of James’ Mantic arrival on May 29. Set to be released via ByStorm Entertainment / RCA Records, the impending album is follow-up to James’ debut effort ELDORADO.
Mantic will include his previously released tracks “Last Time” and “Touchy Feely.”
