The power of creative collaboration is on full display in Rotimi‘s “In My Bed” video featuring rapper Wale.
For the visual storybook, the singer/actor rounds up more than 30 animators to spotlight their unique styles of illustration to represent direct love messages of the song. You’ll have to watch the dope video closely for subliminal messages, too.
Initially, Rotimi had plans to shoot a traditional music video. His idea for a traditional video was postponed due to the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Realizing that many creatives were laid off as a result of the outbreak, Rotimi and his EMPIRE team gave animators from around the world a platform to showcase their animation skills.
“In My Bed” is lifted from Rotimi’s The Beauty of Becoming EP, which was released in December 2019. The song peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart earlier this month.
In April, Rotimi released his Unplugged Sessions EP. He also lent his voice to Sammie’s new single “Picky.”
