Teyana Taylor The Album

Teyana Taylor isn’t playing any games this era. The multitalented entertainer has dropped not one, but two new singles: “Made It” and “Bare Wit Me.”

“Made It” includes production by Kanye West, NOVA Wav and BoogzDaBeat. On the inspirational bop, which interpolates “Back That Azz Up” by Juvenile, Taylor salutes the Class of 2020 who won’t be able to have a traditional graduation ceremony due to the coronavirus pandemic. Taylor released an accompanying visual for “Made It,” which features real fans celebrating their new milestone in their cap and gown.

Taylor wrote on Instagram, “YOU MADE IT!!!!!!! Class of 2020 this is for you!!!! First and foremost, Thank you to ALL the graduates that contributed to the video! I truly appreciate you & happy to celebrate YOU!!! Unfortunately, this pandemic has stopped us from physically gathering and celebrating all the hard work you’ve put in through the years. But this pandemic can’t stop your spirit, it can’t dim your light, and it can’t take your degree away from you!! So when you make it out of this dark time, shine bright and light up the world! Congratulations to the class of 2020, YOU MADE IT!! PEACE & LOVE!”

On “Bare Wit Me,” Taylor keeps it real as she feels torn about the idea of settling down with one man. “I been tellin’ niggas lies / Just split up all my time / With two or three guys / ‘Cause I can’t make up my mind, I know / I’m so indecisive / And I know that you don’t like it / And I never let my guard down but you steady tryna wife it,” she sings on the trippy track.

A dance clip from the 1930s gangster-themed video surfaced online earlier this week, which immediately had Taylor trending on Twitter.

“Made It” and “Bare With Me” will appear on Taylor’s upcoming LP, THE ALBUM, which is slated to arrive in June.

THE ALBUM will also include Taylor’s previously released songs “We Got Love” featuring Lauryn Hill, “How You Want It? (HYWI?)” featuring King Combs and “Morning” featuring Kehlani. It will follow her 2018 sophomore effort, K.T.S.E., which was part of the G.O.O.D. Music album rollout series.
