Emerging vocal force Baby Rose shows no signs of slowing down with the release of her new song titled “Marmot.”
At its woozy pace, “Marmot” finds Rose belting about wanting to be with her lover but recognizing that it’s best for them to go separate ways.
“But I don’t wanna have to feel / I don’t’ wanna have to waste / Time if we’re better apart / If it all was up to me / We would know what this means / It wouldn’t be this hard,” Rose croons on the track.
Rose explained in an Instagram post how 2020 inspired her new track, writing, “The irony of the year 2020 weighing down on my clarity more than ever.”
She continues, “It’s harder to let go of comfort when it feels like our world is ending. find myself grasping on for anything in proximity for a sense of control and then realize, well the lesson needed to be learned here may be surrender. still, surrender to will or desire?”
“Marmot” is lifted from a Rose’s Golden Hour playlist, which also features some fan favorites from her To Myself project. The LP was released last August to critical acclaim.
Rose recently collaborated with musician McClenney for a duet called “Karma Plays.”
