Emerging singer Canjelae teams up with Kevin Ross for her new single “Everbody Here Wants You.”
The slow-burning tune is cover of Jeff Buckley’s 1998 hit single, which was nominated for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance at the 41st Annual Grammy Awards.
“I was introduced to Jeff Buckley from a young age in Bermuda and I always loved the song,” Canjelae tells Rated R&B. “A while back when Kevin and I both lived in ATL we used to write and record a lot together. One day I played him the song and I said if we sang this as a duet and made it more R&B I think it could be something special. He agreed. Fast forward to 2019 he sent me the reproduced track with his verse and with the message ‘tag your it’ and it was a wrap.”
She adds, “It’s truly amazing when you can make music with your closest friends. It’s always laughs with Kevin and I’m always learning something new. He’s an amazing friend and a musical genius fo sure. His support and encouragement has def helped me blossom into the artist I am today.”
Ross tells Rated R&B, “Canjelae and I have known each other since college and we have been talking about collaborating even back then. She made me listen to Jeff Buckley’s version of this record and I knew this could be a dope modernized R&B record.”
“Everybody Here Wants You” will appear on Canjelae’s upcoming project, Cave Covers, which is slated to drop on August 7. The 11-track offering will also include her previously released song “Easy Love,” as well as a guest appearance from Jacob Latimore.
