Absence makes the heart grow fonder. PJ Morton’s new single “I Can’t Wait” underlines this proverb wholeheartedly.
As he has done satisfyingly over and over, this emotional plea for closer proximity between lovers is built around piano instrumentation that compliments Morton’s wholesome vocal style.
“All the good times that we used to share / I took for granted, petty semantics / But now I’m seeing everything so clear / And all I know is that I want you here,” he yearns.
“I Can’t Wait” is the first taste of original music from Morton this year. In February, the Grammy winner released The Piano Album following his Best R&B Song (“Say So”) victory at the 2020 ceremony.
Throughout 2020, Morton has been dipping his feet in the feature pool. He collaborated with the likes of Tank and the Bangas, Q. Parker, and most recently, Rapsody, for the remix of her song “Afeni” with D Smoke.
Morton released his critically acclaimed album PAUL in 2019. It was featured on Rated R&B’s year-end list of 30 Best R&B Albums of 2019.
