Charlie Wilson is an unbeatable force on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart. The legendary debonair’s latest single “One I Got” has risen two spots on the respective chart, peaking at the number one position. It gives Wilson his second chart-leader this year, following “Forever Valentine” in May.
With another notch under his belt, his eighth to be exact, Uncle Charlie now holds the record for the most number-one singles for a male performer on this chart. He cashed in his first big hit in 2005, when “Charlie Last Name: Wilson” topped the chart. Watch Grammy-nominated crooner celebrate the new chart victory in the video below.
The Four Tops-sampled track also extends Wilson’s Billboard Adult R&B record as the first act to have multiple new number one singles in the last three decades: 2020s, 2010s, 2000s. He earned his name in the Billboard history books when “Forever Valentine” led the chart.
Wilson promises a new album sometime later this year via P Music Group, Inc/BMG. His last album was In It To Win It, which was released in 2017.
