When Jorja Smith sings, we listen. The British singer has shared her fourth track of 2020 with a guest appearance from Jamaican dancehall king Popcaan. It’s called “Come Over,” and has a pleasantly smooth groove of fresh and experimental reggae.
Lyrically, she addresses the ongoing confusion that she has when it comes to spending time with her unclear lover. Most of the reason she can’t crack the code to his thinking pattern is partially due to her own causes.
Smith makes her puzzling case in the deftly animated music video, which was directed by Amber Grace Johnson and Future Power Station. In a social media post, she shared that it took three and a half months to bring the visual to life. Watch the video above.
Three other distinct songs have proceeded “Come Over.” She kicked off her first release of the year with The Eddy’s “Kiss Me in the Morning.” She followed with the acid jazz “Rose Rouge” and the socially conscious “By Any Means.”
