If there’s one artist who has been consistent this year, it’s H.E.R. The Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter has released a new track titled “Hold On.”
With production reminiscent of D’Angelo’s classic “Untitled (How Does It Feel),” the guitar-laden tune finds H.E.R. trying to grapple with the fact that her lover seems to be drifting away from their relationship.
“How do you get somewhere comfortable then leave? / Say something baby, something baby / Running to you, running from me / Don’t wanna keep on / Don’t wanna be so dependent on you,” she sings.
The 23-year-old debuted “Hold On” on Saturday Night Live this past weekend. She also performed her recently released single “Damage,” which samples Herb Alpert’s “Making Love in the Rain.”
Both tracks are expected to appear on H.E.R.’s long-awaited debut album that will release on MBK Entertainment/RCA Records. At this time, there isn’t a title or release date set for the project.
