Editor’s Note: The 63rd Grammy Awards will now air on Sunday, March 14 at 8 p.m. ET.
With music’s biggest night on the horizon, the Recording Academy has announced the nominations for the 63rd annual ceremony. Beyoncé leads the way with nine nominations, while Chloe x Halle and Jhené Aiko earn three nods each.
Unfortunately, legends and seasoned veterans such as Brandy, Toni Braxton, and Kem were snubbed in all five categories within the R&B field. The Weeknd also was shut out of the 2021 nominations.
As previously reported, Best Progressive R&B Album replaced Best Urban Contemporary Album after spending seven years on the Grammy ticket. The name change happened to reflect “a more accurate definition to describe the merit or characteristics of music compositions or performances themselves within the genre of R&B.”
Hosted by The Daily Show‘s Trevor Noah, the 63rd annual Grammy Awards will broadcast on CBS on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT.
