Maeta’s voice knows how to attract prolific hitmakers. After joining forces with Kaytranada for her Buddy-featured track “Teen Scene,” the emerging Indianapolis singer partners with Grammy-winning super-producer James Fauntleroy for the trendy new holiday track “Mistletoe.”
Fauntleroy penned and produced the holiday original about a curious female love interest whose seemingly preparing for a festive surprise for her man. He has similar plans, even though she’s already on to him and acts shunned at whatever gift he leaves in her Christmas stocking. Before gifts are exchanged, he wants to plant a kiss under the holly-like he did last year.
Fauntleroy’s melodic tone steers most of the minute and a half song, while Maeta provides the sultry undertones.
Speaking on “Mistletoe,” Maeta said in a press release, “I love collaborating with artists that I admire, and I love holiday music, so this song has a warm place in my heart. James Fauntleroy is such a prolific artist, and it was a true gift to be able to lend my voice to one of his tracks. I hope it gets everyone in their feels this holiday season.”
Fauntleroy echoed her sentiments, saying, “Slow Jams are for Christmas! Everyone’s favorite gift to unwrap after the kids go back to sleep deserves a soundtrack – here it is!”
As previously mentioned, Maeta shared “Teen Scene” earlier this year. She is gearing up for the release of her upcoming project, Habits, which is due sometime in 2021.
