Ari Lennox isn’t playing any games when it comes to her sophomore album. After being spotted in the studio with Missy Elliott earlier this month, the Washington, D.C. native has teamed up with R&B architects Bryan-Michael Cox, Jermaine Dupri and Johntá Austin.
According to Austin’s Instagram post, they had a studio session on Monday night. “About last night… @arilennox spent some time cooking up with the Ocean Boys! What an amazing talent she is. Brilliant writer & incredible voice,” he wrote. All four music creatives were pictured together wearing masks.
As the anticipation builds for Lennox’s next project, her debut album, Shea Butter Baby, remains in rotation. This month, the title track featuring J. Cole was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America with over 1 million units sold. It is Lennox’s first platinum-selling single in her catalog.
In January, Lennox appeared on Jazmine Sullivan’s critically-acclaimed project, Heaux Tales.
