Ahead of the 10th anniversary of her debut mixtape, Sailing Soul(s), Jhené Aiko finally makes the project available on all streaming platforms.
The reissued version of the mixtape includes four fan-favorite songs that were not on the original tracklist, including “Living Room Flow,” “Mirrors,” “2 Seconds” and “Snapped.”
When Aiko announced that Sailing Soul(s) would be hitting streaming platforms, she also opened up about the inspiration behind the project.
“I wanted the cover to express me breaking free from that narrative of having to ‘sell’ myself,” she explained on Instagram. “I wanted the broken chains to symbolize that freedom of being unanchored… free to be me, going with the flow… going with the wind like a boat… freeing my soul…. ‘sailing’ my soul instead of ‘selling’ my soul.”
Longtime fans may notice a few changes on the reissued version of Sailing Soul(s) compared to the original. “July” featuring Drake and “Growing Apart Too” featuring Kendrick Lamar and H.O.P.E. is missing from the track list. Also, Kanye West’s verse on “Sailing Not Selling” has been omitted.
