Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, together known as Silk Sonic, are the new kings of the hill on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their hit single “Leave the Door Open” knocks Cardi B’s “Up” from the number-one spot in the week of April 17. This feat comes five weeks after the Motown-influenced groove debuted at No. 4.
The D-Mile produced track is Mars’ eighth landslide in the Hot 100 contest. The last time Mars had the best seat in the house was in 2017 with the Grammy-winning single “That’s What I Like” from his 24k Magic album. Mars first touched the summit in 2010 with “Nothin’ On You,” a collaboration with B.o.B.
For .Paak, this marks his first Hot 100 leader of his career. His only other appearance here was last year for “Lock It Up” with Eminem. It peaked at No. 89 in February 2020.
On the Adult R&B Side, Silk Sonic continues to have a firm grip over the top position. “Leave the Door Open” made it to the front of the line earlier this month, inking a page in the Billboard history books as the fastest lap to No. 1 among male performers.
Silk Sonic recently shared a live rendition of “Door Open.”
It is worth noting that “Leave the Door Open” is the lead single from Silk Sonic’s upcoming project, An Evening with Silk Sonic, due sometime this summer.
The legendary Bootsy Collins is among the album’s guest appearances.
