R&B newcomer Serena Smart has teamed up with rapper Trillian, son of hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes, for her new single “Focused.”
The kiss-off anthem was produced by Miniboom, son of famed video director Benny Boom (Ciara, Keyshia Cole, Nelly).
“‘Focused’ is the result of my last relationship,” Serena Smart explains to Rated R&B. “I was so consumed with everyone and everything but now I’ve acknowledged my worth and realize how capable I am of doing great things for myself.”
The Queens, New York native has also issued an accompanying video, premiered by Rated R&B. The video follows Serena Smart as she finally cuts off her unfaithful man and moves on with her life. “This is my world / You’re living in it / There’s sh*t that I gotta do,” she sings.
“Focused” was featured on Monday night’s episode of CW’s Black Lightning.
Last year, Serena Smart made her debut with her timid tune “Nervous.”
