One of the most beloved albums to come out of the pandemic last year was JoJo’s good to know. It was released on May 1 on her Clove Music imprint in partnership with Warner Records. After receiving glowing reviews and praise from publications such as Rated R&B, good to know was reissued in acoustic and deluxe formats.
In honor of the album’s first anniversary, JoJo teams up with director Alfredo Flores to put on a virtual concert dedicated to the album. She opened the 25-minute set with “Bad Habits,” lifted from the expanded edition. Dressed in a baseball cap and an oversized suit, JoJo belted out the tune on a foggy, red-lit stage with a four-man band.
She followed with “So Bad” and “Comeback” before she went into a musical trance for the outro of the harmonic “Pedialyte.”
The best performance of them all was “Don’t Talk Me Down,” the closing track from the standard album. It was ethereal, powerful, and luring from start to finish.
Going through a few more good to know cuts and an SWV cover, JoJo ended the concert with “In Your Room,” a rollicking number about being in the company of a lover in their sleeping quarters.
JoJo recently appeared on Parson James’ “Dirty Laundry.” She also released the vaulted D’Mile-produced track “American Mood” in January.
