Chlöe (of Chloe x Halle) has dipped her toe in the solo pool in the spirit of Juneteenth. In celebration of Black pride and freedom, the multi-hyphenate reimagined Nina Simone’s 1965 version of “Feeling Good” for the Liberated / Music For The Movement Vol. 3 EP.
Chlöe is no stranger to remaking the immortal tune at various times, with the most recent in 2017 alongside her sister Halle at Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards.
The Liberated / Music For The Movement Vol. 3 EP, streaming on all platforms, includes five tracks with guest contributions from Cordae, Common, Kamasi Washington, Yara Shahidi, and Lucky Daye, who appears on the project’s lead track “Running Blind.”
As it relates to Chloe x Halle, the sister duo lead the pack, along with Chris Brown, at the 2021 BET Awards with four nominations. These considerations are attached to their sophomore album Ungodly Hour, which ranked at No. 3 on Rated R&B’s best R&B albums of 2020 list.
Chloe x Halle contributed more Juneteenth material in cover form, redoing TLC’s iconic hit single “Waterfalls.” It appears on Apple Music’s Juneteenth 2021: Freedom Songs playlist.
