Mahalia has a certified jam with her new single, “Whenever You’re Ready.”
With Mack Jamieson and Two Inch Punch (Kali Uchis, Gallant) on the beat, the slinky track features a sample of “Get It On Tonite” by Montell Jordan, adding a crisp twist on the solidified classic.
In the first verse, she sings, “I won’t lie to you / Said you needed space / In a rage, I was scared to say bye to you / I didn’t understand why you ran away / What was I supposed to do? / Terrified that the end of us would end my life / Till I realized.”
Mahalia also released a video in support of “Whenever You’re Ready.” The millennium-inspired visual is an ode to girl power, as Mahalia enjoys a night in with her crew.
The new track follows up her last single, “Jealous,” featuring Rico Nasty. In 2020, she released an EP titled Isolation Tapes. It followed her unapologetic debut album Love & Compromise.
