Donell Jones has tested the waters of his new R&B supergroup, composed of Dave Hollister and Carl Thomas, with a new remix of “Karma (Payback).”
Jones not only leans on his two members of The Chi, but he also relies on RL — who also co-wrote and produced the track — and Jacquees to harmonize over an overtly computerized production about their respective exes getting what’s coming to them after unfaithful ways come to light.
This official remix debuted at No. 26 on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart this week. The original version of the song appears on Jones’ recent album 100% Free, which was released in February. It also has a supporting video. Watch it below.
As previously stated, Jones announced last month that he, Hollister, and Thomas were going as The Chi and releasing new music soon that showcased “impeccable songwriting” and exalted their voices.
Jacquees just dropped a song (“Not Jus Anybody”) with Future. Thomas celebrated the 20th anniversary of his classic Emotional album while Hollister put out his previous album, The Manuscript, in 2016. As for RL, he shared a new song titled “Another Night” in March and said the Minneapolis sound inspired it.
