Aaron Camper has undergone a rebrand. The singer-songwriter sets forth a new path in music under CAMP, an alias familiar to those who know him best. He tells Rated R&B in a statement that he chose to reinvent himself after becoming emotionally wise in his personal and professional life.
“After losing things, time, and people, I began to put all my relationships in front of me, evaluate everyone’s role, do real inventory, and it hurt mostly,” CAMP says about the last four years of his life journey.
In doing his self-analysis, he realized how he came engulfed in a compensation war with former affiliates, who made it remotely impossible for him and collaborators to receive a dime from his previous works.
Optimistic about his future, CAMP is “back to the music, intentions clear, and understanding.” The first single from his relaunch is “Issues,” a self-written track produced by Anikan & Vader.
In the song, he is frustrated with a toxic relationship where a gaslighting partner makes any sort of reconciliation unlikely. CAMP is actually relieved with the outcome, singing, “Honestly, if I lose you to these issues / I won’t miss you / Not at all.”
He says about the song, “Inner healing isn’t a joke. It’s not fun and takes real pain to get results. Even as uncomfortable as that sounds.”
