Davion Farris has proved to be an incredible songwriter with credits for big names in R&B such as Mary J. Blige, Tyrese, Jill Scott, SiR, Trey Songz, and more.
The Inglewood, California, native is now putting this energy behind his own solo career. He has released his new single “Sometimes” via Lena Waithe’s imprint Hillman Grad Records / Def Jam Recordings.
Written by Farris, the song’s lyrics aim to spark self-reflect, encouraging listeners to embrace the times when they’re emotionally drained.
Farris said in a statement, “It’s a reminder that we’re not alone. This song is about strength in vulnerability. It’s ok to acknowledge that in certain moments, you’re not ok.”
Regarding her new signee, Waithe shared, “Davion is a timeless artist. He isn’t afraid to be vulnerable in his music. And that’s why he stood out to myself, Albert Cooke, and Tebs Maqubela as an artist we wanted to sign.”
“Sometimes” was featured in The Chi’s fourth season.
