Muni Long celebrates her first top 40 single as an artist on the Billboard Hot 100. Her viral hit “Hrs and Hrs” soars 49 spots to No. 34 in its second week on the chart.
Aiding that ascension on the mainstream singles chart is the TikTok karaoke challenge dedicated to the viral single from Public Displays of Affection, her third project as Muni Long.

“Hrs and Hrs” holds at number-one among Long’s most popular songs on Spotify, tallying currently close to 4.5 million streams. In addition, it remains a leading force on Apple Music’s R&B/Soul charts.
Recently, Long remixed the track with a guest appearance from August Alsina.
In an interview with Rated R&B, Long shared what sparked the creation of “Hrs and Hrs” and other tracks from Public Displays of Affection.
“I decided to listen to some tracks while I was washing dishes. This one came up, and I just started freestyling. I think I wrote the song in maybe 20 minutes. I went in the studio a couple of days later and recorded it,” she revealed. “It’s probably my favorite song to sing live. It’s just so beautiful.”
As a songwriter, Long has had a presence on the Hot 100, including Pitbull’s “Timber” featuring Kesha, Rihanna’s “California King Bed,” and Selena Gomez’s “Who Says,” to name a few. The former topped the chart for three consecutive weeks in 2014.
When Long went as Priscilla Renea, she told Rated R&B in 2018 while promoting her Coloured project, that record executives were selling her pipe dreams about releasing music of her own. Instead, they used her successes like “Timber” to keep her from moving up the ladder.
“They say, ‘If I get a number one, I’ll be able to make my own album.’ I got a number one in the UK, but that doesn’t count. They say, ‘If I get a number one on the Billboard [Hot] 100, I’ll be able to make my own album.’ I got a number one with “Timber” [by Pitbull], but ‘That’s not a whole song. That’s just a hook.’ It was never enough.”
