Extended gaps between relationships can make you a little rusty, especially when rebooting feelings of love and trust that have been dormant for a while. JAWAN.mp3, formerly known as Jawan, is leery about entering a new commitment on his new song “Get Back.”

The slow jam not only showcases the rising singer’s incredibly pillowy voice, but it also takes note of his relatability as a songwriter, who, too, can recognize when they’re not at their best to embark on a romantic journey.

JAWAN.mp3 knows that love is a huge responsibility, and he doesn’t want to disappoint an interest while he’s still figuring out how to eclipse a sense of hesitation.

He sings, “I just wanna be the man you need and more / But right now, I’m lost / Hold on / Tell me / How to love / How to wait / How to trust / How do I get back?”

In a statement, JAWAN.mp3 explained the backstory on his new single. “Sometimes you need a little help getting back to yourself after a heartbreak, especially when you want to be fully available for new love. I’ve needed that patience and grace, and I’m sure other people can relate,” he explained.

“Get Back,” which includes additional vocals from Mel Smith, will appear on JAWAN.mp3’s EP, The Expansion, due this spring. The project will also include extended versions of songs from JAWAN.mp3’s 2021 EP, The Abstract, which featured songs such as “Assurance,” “Call Me,” and “Cause & Effect.”
