R&B newcomer GoGo Morrow has released her debut single, “In The Way.” It’s her first offering on Harmony Samuels‘ imprint B.O.E. and Universal Music Canada, in partnership with Kenya Barris’ label venture Khalabo Music/Interscope Records.
Produced by Samuels, “In The Way” sees Morrow confronting her partner who isn’t emotionally available.
“You love me when it’s convenient / Can never tell when you mean it / If you’re not all way in it / Maybe you should let someone else get it / ‘Cause you ain’t really tryna grow / You just like giving me home,” Morrow sings.
Morrow knows that there is someone out there who will treat her right, so she isn’t pressed to stay with someone who isn’t ready to commit.
“I would not hurt my pride if right now you decide / That you were not ready to settle down,” she declares. The familiar line is an interpolation from Brownstone’s 1994 classic “If You Love Me.”
“Writing this song helped me heal and I hope it does the same for anyone going through a similar situation,” said Morrow.
“In The Way” arrives with an accompanying video, directed by Sebastian Sdaigui, which can be viewed below.
Before inking her record deal, Morrow worked as a backup singer for artists such as Lady Gaga, Wiz Khalifa and Kanye West (Sunday Service Choir).
