Imagine laying on a decent-sized bed with a comforter and linen as caressing as Sabrina Claudio’s pillowy-soft voice.
It would likely make for a perfect night’s rest. Based On A Feeling has that relaxing effect, making for a homely listen of songs that relax the heart and soul.
Based On A Feeling is the latest album from Claudio, following 2020’s Christmas Blues and 2019’s Truth Is. The current LP comprises 11 songs, three of which were shared as early singles, including “Don’t Make Me Wait” and “Better Version.”
Among the new songs is “Subtle Things,” the piano-lined opener where she values the little details often overlooked in relationships. “Feel like everybody’s worrying ‘bout the wrong things / Overthought and overanalyzed,” she sensually sings.
“Still Strangers” is another beautiful standout, benefiting from the context where the talking phase brings Claudio the most peace as she does not want to be laden with the pressure of romantic commitment.
Speaking about the title Based On A Feeling, Claudio explains, “[It] stems from the promise I made of only making decisions based on a feeling of love and pure intentions. I took this idea and allowed it to guide me through the creative process of this album in every single aspect and I could not be more fulfilled with the final result.”
Based On A Feeling arrives ahead of Claudio’s upcoming Something in the Water Festival appearance. The Pharrell-helmed event takes place on Juneteenth weekend (June 17-18) in Washington, D.C.
