Devin Morrison has released his new single “P.B.J.,” which he co-produced with CUBE. It’s short for “Pretty Brown Jawn” (more on that later).
Morrison sets the scene as the funky bass and the drums melt together. It stars him and a striking woman who catches his eye. As he details the beauty of her features, Morrison leaves us with a beautiful and fun song dedicated to brown-skinned women everywhere.
“See me, I will paint your world for free / Вut dоn’t аѕk mе thе соlоr оf аnуthіng / ‘Саuѕе аll І ѕее іѕ уоur ѕwееt brоwn mаhоgаny,” Morrison sings.
On the eve of its release, Morrison discussed the creation process of “P.B.J.” with Iman Europe of sound.xyz during a Twitter Spaces. It was there he mentioned its abbreviation.
Morrison joked that though he was born in Orlando, Florida, he grew up in a household where everyone said “jawn,” Philadelphia, Pennsylvania slang.

“P.B.J.” is the first original solo release from Morrison this year. It comes almost a year after the release of “Yamz” with Masego. The sweet single has now amassed nearly seven million streams, partially thanks to the ever-growing “Yamz Challenge.”
In July, Morrison covered Tony! Toni! Toné!’s “It Never Rains (In Southern California).” He had a few features on projects by Aron (“Soul Caliber“) and The Cool Kids (“World On Wheels“)
Combining his skills as a composer and his fun-loving sense of humor, Morrison has taken to YouTube to create commercial jingles. His tunes include one for the defunct Seaman’s Furniture and the iconic doll Chucky.
Since the summer, Morrison has quietly uploaded Dream Lobby, a five-part instrumental albums installment, on streaming platforms. They were initially released on Bandcamp.
