Idman is back with new music. The R&B newcomer has shared “Hate,” a new song from her upcoming debut project, Risk.
The beginning of the track builds from a voicemail left by an ex and phone dialing sound effects into Idman recounting a split that’s left her in shambles.
Before “Hate” ends, Idman realizes that her attempts to return the call are in vain as the number is now disconnected.
Idman says “Hate” is the “most honest song” she’s ever written and is a continuation of one of her previous singles released in 2022.
“After a breakup and seven months of no contact with an ex, ‘Hate’ highlights feelings I contemplated as I came to terms with the ending of my last relationship,” Idman explained.
“This song is a part of the story we began to tell with ‘Good Life’ – I almost ran away from telling it until my collaborators gave me the courage to continue.”

Idman’s latest track is accompanied by a stirring video directed by Khufu Najee.
“The music video utilizes mirrors to symbolize looking myself in the eye and holding myself accountable and using this song and this process as a means of self-critique and self-reflection as I deal with all the lingering emotions in the aftermath of my first real heartbreak,” Idman shared.
“Hate” is Idman’s first song released this year. She unleashed “Look At What I’m Doing To You” in June 2022 and dropped “Good Life” earlier that spring.
Idman is gearing up to release new music later this year.
