Mariah Carey is giving her 2009 deep cut “It’s a Wrap” justice with a new EP.
The four-track EP includes the original song, a sped-up version, a radio edit and a remix with Mary J. Blige, which appeared on 2014’s Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse (Deluxe Version).
On “It’s a Wrap,” Carey calls it quits with an unfaithful lover who has been out all night doing who-knows-what. And it’s not their first time creeping.
Carey sings in the first verse: “Yet another early morning / And you walk in like it’s nothing / Hold up, hold up, hold tight / Ain’t no donuts, ain’t no coffee / See, I know you seen me calling and calling / I should crack you right in your forehead.”
“It’s a Wrap” contains a sample from Love Unlimited’s “I Belong To You,” written and produced by Barry White.
The kiss-off anthem, lifted from Carey’s album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, has seen a resurgence following a TikTok challenge that she launched in late January.
Billboard reports “weekly U.S. on-demand streams of ‘It’s a Wrap’ have soared by more than 1,000% compared to where they were at the beginning of the month.”
On Spotify, “It’s a Wrap” is trending upwards on Carey’s profile. It’s among her trending tracks and has garnered more than 10 million streams at the time of publication.

Carey released Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel in September 2009. The album, which included the hit single “Obsessed,” debuted at No. 3 during the week of Oct. 17, 2009.
Perhaps Carey will include “It’s a Wrap” in her setlist when she performs at the Lovers & Friends Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 6.
