Shawn Stockman of the legendary group Boyz II Men is back with a new single, “I’ll Be on My Way.”
Penned by Stockman, “I’ll Be on My Way” is a reminder that we all have a purpose and our time on Earth is limited, so we shouldn’t forget to cherish each moment. It also provides comfort to anyone who may be grieving a loss in their life.
“Don’t you cry / Wipe your tears away from your eyes / I’m alright, it’s OK / My job is all done / And now, now I’ll be on my way,” Stockman sings over gentle acoustic guitar plucks. “You don’t have to cry no more / I know everything’s gonna be alright.”
“I’ll Be on My Way” is featured in a recent episode of CW’s All-American, where Stockman makes a cameo as himself to perform the sentimental track.

“I’ll Be on My Way” is Stockman’s first solo single since “Everything,” which he released in December 2020. Earlier that year, he released his solo debut album, Foreword. The album included Stockman’s hit single “Feelin Lil Som’n,” which peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart.
“I can confidently say this album put in an environment like being at home — whether you are working from home or just not doing at all — is great mood music,” Stockman told Rated R&B in an interview. “It allows everybody to put something in the background while you’re cooking breakfast for the kids or for yourself or doing whatever and it not intrude with your day. It’s music that people will enjoy in these types of environments.”
Additionally, in 2020, Stockman joined forces with R&B gents Omar Wilson, Sisqó and Raheem DeVaughn for a remake of Quincy Jones’ classic “The Secret Garden.” It spent 13 weeks on the Adult R&B Airplay chart, peaking at No. 18 during the week of Nov. 14, 2020.
Last year, Stockman reissued Foreword with a deluxe edition that featured the bonus track “Cocoa Blue.”
